Coolidge Transit Terminal Facility

The Coolidge Transit Terminal Facility is located within an existing, post war residential neighborhood, adjacent to the City Police Station.  The multi –use facility incorporates Mass Transit, City Office and Community Meeting uses into a single, cohesive building layout.  Hierarchy of forms and the use of indigenous, locally available building materials, tie the facility into the historic context of the nearby Casa Grande Ruins, with its protective space frame canopy. The use of roofs as a sculptural element and shading device protect the multi-paned window openings, allowing daylighting into the spaces and echo the historic context and community image.  The facility allows the surrounding residential neighborhood to participate in the community functions of mass transit and interaction with City Government.
